The "pregnant oyster" in the Tiergarten, built as the Congress Hall in 1957, is Berlin's house for international contemporary culture and a Berlinale venue.
Each February this 1,600-seat theater on Marlene-Dietrich-Platz becomes the Berlinale Palast, where the Berlin International Film Festival's competition films premiere and the Golden Bear is awarded.
