Elisabet Ney (1833–1907) was a renowned 19th-century sculptor, known for her neoclassical portrait statues and non-commissioned sculptures. Fleeing persecution in 1871, she settled in Texas and built Formosa, where she revitalized her career. The Elisabet Ney Museum now celebrates her legacy and progressive identity, resonating with women’s rights and other contemporary narratives.A full member of Historic Artists’ Homes and Studios, the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s network of artists’ homes and studios open to the public.
