Charles Ephraim Burchfield (1893–1967) lived in Salem, Ohio, until 1921, finding inspiration in the town and its surroundings for his paintings. The Burchfield Homestead showcases his art, including his early expressionistic landscapes and later bold, expressive works. His distinctive style and unique ability to capture moments in time set his paintings apart.A full member of Historic Artists’ Homes and Studios, the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s network of artists’ homes and studios open to the public.
