The Baltimore City Archives preserves and provides access to the permanent records of Baltimore City government: council and mayoral papers, maps, photographs, building permits, and records of city departments dating to the 18th century. It is administered with the Maryland State Archives. Historians, curators, genealogists and preservationists use its collections for research on Baltimore’s buildings, neighborhoods and people.
